Glasserie Power erhält iF Design Award

Power glass series receives iF Design Award

Collecting passion

With the iF Design Award, the Power glass series from Stölzle Lausitz receives its second prestigious design award in just a few weeks. The award of the iF Design Award by the world's oldest independent design institution, iF International Forum Design GmbH in Hanover, follows directly on the heels of the German Design Award for the product line of the German glass manufacturer. In both cases, the expressive Power series was able to convince the jury with its clear design and high design quality. This makes the Power series a passionate collector of prestigious design awards.

The special feature of the Power glasses from Stölzle Lausitz is the low-set widest part of the goblet, which is practically identical to the glass base. This also makes possible an extremely elongated chimney of the wine glasses, which leads the bouquet of the wine purposefully to the nose of the connoisseur. This straightforward appearance of the power glasses combines purist design with the claim to offer the right glass for every drink. This is because the glasses give the wine maximum expansion and thus contact surface for air exchange, even in small quantities. In conjunction with the consistent narrowing of the flue, this results in optimized bouquet transport.

The power glasses are manufactured at Stölzle Lausitz's headquarters in Weißwasser/O.L. in Saxony. There, the company implements a machine manufacturing process at the highest quality level, which comes very close to the handcrafted mouth-blowing technique. In the so-called drawing process, the stem is pulled out of the goblet during production, resulting in a harmonious transition without tactile seams and high stability of the glass. This special process also makes it possible to create unusual glass shapes. Stölzle Lausitz can claim to be the number 1 in Germany for the production of wine and champagne glasses (goblets) with drawn stems.

In addition to the classic goblets with slender, elongated stems, the Power glass series also includes glass tumblers, which, thanks to their characteristic shape, are also excellent for enjoying wine, for example at events. But they also provide stylish enjoyment for other beverages without a stem. Like the variants with stems, they make a convincing impression in every situation, and not just when the design jury is making its decision.

In this year's iF Design Award, a 63-member independent international jury decided on a total of 6,402 entries, an unprecedented number. Entries from 54 countries competed for the coveted award. For 65 years, the award has been a globally recognized and established trademark when it comes to excellent design.
