Garibaldi - the Italian aperitif that puts the sun into the glass

When you're yearning for a taste of the South, the Garibaldi is the perfect companion. This classic Italian aperitif combines the subtle, elegant bitterness of Campari with freshly frothed orange juice, creating a drink that's as simple as it is sophisticated. A summery cocktail with character, reminiscent of warm afternoons in the piazza—light, lively, and surprisingly smooth in flavor.

What is a Garibaldi?

The Garibaldi is a more traditional Aperitif cocktail from Italy, named after the freedom fighter of the same name - a symbolic connection: Campari from Milan, Oranges from Sicily. The combination creates a drink that authentically reflects the taste of Italy: Bitter, sunny, fresh.

His secret is in detail - more precisely: in the orange juice. If this is foamed airy, a velvety texture is created that gives the drink lightness and depth at the same time.

Ingredients for a Garibaldi

For a glass:

  • 50 ml Campari

  • 100 ml freshly pressed orange juice
(preferably with pulp and sweet, sun -ripened oranges)

  • Ice cubes

Set:

  • Orange disk or orange zest

Preparation - step by step

  1. Prepare glass: A tumbler glass generous Fill with ice cubes.

  2. Pour Campari: The basis for the characteristic bitter tone.

  3. Foam orange juice: With a Milk frother or in Blender Foam the freshly squeezed juice airy - that makes the Garibaldi particularly creamy.

  4. Slowly pour juice over the Campari - For the typical, gently mixed look.

  5. Garnish: Round off with an orange pane or a cestentwist.

Tip: The fresher and juicy the oranges, the more rounder the drink becomes. If you like, you can also vary with blood oranges.

Glass recommendation: Métrico-tumbler for maximum style

The Garibaldi is ideally served in the small Tumbler of the Métrico series from Stölzle Lausitz. The clear, conical shape of the glass not only supports the aesthetics of this two-component drink, but also brings out the foam of the orange juice particularly well.
