The tradition of drinking boots goes back to the Celts in the late Bronze Age. Later, in the 19th century, the military drank out of leather boots (mensur boots) as a punishment or as a test of courage. Over time, this gave rise to the custom of drinking beer boots, especially in student circles - but later, fortunately, from glass boots.
